How to Share Graphs With Other Users

There are a couple of situations that may arise, which will require that you take a few extra steps so that you and your colleagues can view and edit a graph. Please see below for scenarios, and expand the option that best describes your circumstance. If neither applies to you, or you have any further questions, please contact us.

You would like to view a graph using a different user ID than that which was used to create the graph

This situation will apply to you whether you have more than one user ID, or would like to share a graph with a colleague.

To share graphs with other users, you must:

1. Be Part of the Same Security Group

All users that reside in the same Security Group can view and edit the same graphs. If you would like to setup a Security Group for graph sharing, or check to see who is in the same Security Group(s) as yourself, please contact your Group Administrator (only they can manage Security Groups). The following articles describe what Security Groups are, and how to manage them.

2. Enable Sharing When Saving a Graph

By doing so, you allow others in your Security Group to view and edit the graph. If you already have graphs that you'd like to share, simply open the graph and re-save. Please refer to the following article for further guidance.

You created the graph using Legacy Graphing, and would like to view/edit it in "new" Graphing

In 2014, we released a significant update to our graphing engine, which we refer to as "Graphing". By using any web browser except Internet Explorer (IE), you automatically have access to the most recent version of Graphing. However, if you are using IE, by default you only have access to the deprecated "Legacy Graphing" tool. There is no manual way to choose one or the other - the version available to you depends on the web browser you use to access Graphing. As much as we encourage all our users to operate with the supported (and up-to-date) Graphing engine, we understand the importance of keeping Legacy Graphing in IE available.

Graphs created using Legacy Graphing are not automatically available in "new" Graphing due to incompatibility in the file format. In order to view and edit a legacy graph, you must first convert it to the new format. The conversion process is simple, and will allow you to view and edit a legacy graph in the current version without having to manually re-create it from scratch.

For a step-by-step guide on converting a legacy graph, please refer to the following article.
